Organizing thoughts is one of the core challenges faced by humanity today. With the load of information fed to us on a microsecond basis, it is extremely difficult to keep the mind clear of all the chaos and distractions. This is even prominent for creative folks.
The learnings from director Alejandro Iñárritu’s process can be expanded to other domains easily.
Here is how it goes (customized for my daily activities):
Grab a blank note card and divide it into columns (usually six).

The most traumatic part of the creative process is the inevitable encounter of the intangible and abstract with the tangible and concrete—the idea or ethereal dream that we are rudely awakened from in the face of solid reality.
Films are made with your body, your liver. You think, but you do it with your feelings and your body’s memory.
